Animal Health Certificate - For travel from the UK to the EU

From 22 April 2026, new EU regulations changed the rules for pets travelling from Great Britain (England, Scotland and Wales) to the European Union.

If your main residence is in Great Britain, you can no longer travel to the EU using an EU Pet Passport, even if it was originally issued by an EU country and is still valid. EU Pet Passports are now only valid for people whose permanent residence is within the European Union. An Animal Health Certificate (AHC) is required for every trip from Great Britain to the EU. Your AHC must be completed and signed by an Official Veterinarian before you travel.

Animal Health Certificate can be used for:

• Travel onwards within EU countries for up to 6 months, provided your pet's rabies vaccination remains valid.

• Returning to Great Britain on the same trip.

• However, a new Animal Health Certificate is required for each new journey from Great Britain to the EU.

To issue an Animal Health Certificate (AHC), we need to collect detailed information about you, your pet, and your planned journey before your appointment. Completing this form accurately and in full allows us to prepare your certificate in advance, helping your appointment run smoothly and reducing the risk of delays to your travel plans.
